Hi Everyone,

As my game moves into the next stages of development we are looking at "feel" and art of the game.

One of the things we have decided is that the textures and general art of the game should look "painted"
I'm looking for any tools / tutorials anyone may have found that relates to doing digitial art with this sort of feel to it.

A good start is to use a pen tablet. There're several paint program that emulate physical painting.

Just take a look at openCanvas. I knew a girl who was doing digital painting using this and produced great stuff...

You may get far by just using Paint.NET plugins. For example the default effect artistic/oil-painting seems to be a bit like what you want. I also like artistic/pen-sketch, but there are also lots of other plugins which may help you out. It's the easiest and cheapest way to get a somewhat consistent art style I guess.

You can have a look at ArtRage also. It's quite specialized in emulating traditional painting/drawing and is quite cheap ( 50 dollars ) Smiley

Krita may be another one to try out. I have messed with it a bit and quite like it.
