FMOD , though last time I checked, there are not any 'non commercial' bindings for it? Though apparently its quite awesome
Its free for 'free projects' but costs at least $500 for a commercial indie license

While I do not have any actual experience or knowledge in this area.  Could I ask why you wanted an alternative?
Is there a problem/shortfall that you are unsatisfied with openAL?
