some time ago when I was looking to buy a new laptop. I had the option to get it without Windows, which saved me about 80€ also.

ironically, some brands do offer the option to not have windows installed.... but since it is not a "stock" setup, it ends up being more expensive

Somehow, with the good vibes being spread by W8, I suspect many manufacturers will start offering alternate OS.... Oh, wait, Microsoft ties them down legally, and their goal is to make it so new ARM devices can not install alternative OSes at all. Yeah, I knew there were more reasons I objected to MS's bussiness practices.

Yeah I will not buy a laptop with windows on it.
There is a popular german page which actually has "no windows" as a search function

but I guess you can search at amazon too with "ubuntu,no windows, no os, bsd" whatever
yeah Ive seen items that aren't cheaper then and its bullshit.
But hey you don often buy a laptop, so take a little time making sure you get the right one and one without windows for less money :D

Yeah I guess this is WINE. Have done it myself and it works remarkably well - However I really have to be sure that the whole suite runs rock solid. I need more than Photoshop.
