What I found funny about the xbox presentation was that every time they said the word "XBOX" all xbox users with a kinect were disconnected by the stream, because their kinect thought that this was a voice command

I don't like playing on console, additionally I won't buy something that is proud of cod. Wow they got a new super dog, it's like the ai in bf3, absolutely useless. Games are becoming quite boring, no new stuff, just old polished one. I still hope that Ouya makes its way up

it's a nice step for major entertainment but, as a gamer, why would i spend more money for things i will never use ? gamers want to play games, we was waiting for new features for games, not a voice-Controlled-Tv,plus they are "killing" the indie market ... (i hope the Ouya become popular very soon ) Honestly i think this is the best time for Nintendo to take the lead again, at least on microsoft, cause Sony's PS4 seems pretty good, i really wish that Nintendo is planning to create a "hardcore" console with some of their original creativity (i always trusted Nintendo creativity )

We need more FPSes with an actual decent story like BioShock Infinite. If it must be a FPS...

It tracks your face and only listens to you when you actually look towards the screen. I hope that the performance won't be as bad as it seems, I had an xbox and an xbox360 and I really like the skype part of the xbox one as I have family in another part of the world. Mike

And just like with Skype, while recording, it filters out the audio it emits through the speakers (which isn't as simple as you might think, due to sound bouncing around in the room).

Having a kinect which always watches and listens because you could switch the Xbox on anytime, certainly does raise privacy issues.
MS selling facial data/voice data/statistics of which words are common of all users to the police/government to prevent "terrorism" and there you go. Wiretapping your own home yourself :D

facial recognition works better if the reference is a 3d model or point cloud, which kinects can produce. great ...

FPS/RTS hybrid
Lets hope Dysis comes out soon. Anyway, on topic: Microsoft may be doing damage to the indies temporarily, but they can't stop the developer community. Microsoft is also dying. All these attempts to control what you can/can't do is a sign of fear. As for their anti-piracy measures, I reckon it takes a few weeks (months at most) from release before crackers work around always-online. Overall, it's not that bad, as the most likely scenario is that indies will struggle on forever, like we have already. The more people try and take away indie games, the more demand it creates for them.

I sure hope that's an optional feature. I for one would like to be able to say "XBox, pause" when I get up without the damn thing having more reasons to ignore me. I always feel like I'm talking to a particularly dumb and stubborn puppy when I voice-control the thing, but they don't make any RF remotes either except for the controllers (which go to sleep).

Disks will disappear within a few years. They can pry my disks from my dead cold hands. I don't think offline data storage will go away. I can't wait until I can have 100 TB for 129 dollars in 6 years.

Online distribution is getting cheaper every day, and has been cheaper than hardware distribution (including shipping, and the profit for the retailer) for years now.
What are the advantages of these disks anyway? A sense of ownership? Don't think so, they can still disable your license remotely.

To me, living in New Zealand, where we still can only download a certain # of Gbs per month, physical distribution is still key. As much as I'd like to be able to download as much as I wanted, I can't. We, as a household of 3(inc. servers), can only use 100GBs per month. Now, if I had to download ALL of my games again(e.g, if my hard disk failed), I'd have to wait 3-4 months without any form of internet before all my games were playable again.
Yes, getting unlimited internet in New Zealand is possible. But when you read the fine print(if you can even afford these plans in the first place), it will mention something along the lines of you being on a "lower priority".
Now if you want to tell me that physical distro. is too old fashioned, remember that living those living in non-european/american areas.. exist?

Not true at all. There are many companies which offer to make DVDs and cases for you, and its not expensive. Getting them into a store for example would be the same problem of course, but you could sell them from your own website and stuff

I completely understand you. My family had been accustomed to huge amounts of internet usage in the US (our internet actually has a max usage per month, but it's around 250 GB or so so we never get close to reaching it), so when we went to New Zealand for 5 months we almost went over the internet max a ton. The internet limits there are really annoying. I can definitely understand physical distribution being important there.

Luckily, indie games generally aren't ~10GBs. (:

OMG was that gonna happen at some point, man I loved those games. I Just checked out the gameplay for that and oh man I would of bought that right away.

They're annoying even in the U.S, especially in Texas. They've just barely started getting anything better than dial-up to the part where i live and we still have a data cap.

For me Xbox One is a bit step to failer.... All the TV features and sports and all that they prommised are useless outside USA. The only thing that i would buy a Xbox one is for the Exclusives but everytime i hear hows this hardware works makes changes my mind. Always online Kinect? always online requirement?Used games not usable anymore?small harddrive not be able to remove it? all this are crappy moves that shot thier own product down. If this continues i am going to move to Sony.... I loved my Xbox 360 but ... the new Xbox? is just a piece of garbage.

Well Microsoft just made it impossible for anyone to bring their console onto a ship for deployment. The Xboxes are(were) the most popular console.
It really does seam like game developers are in a war against anyone that deploys for any kind of military service.
