Hello,
This video was posted today explaining the mean features of the new Microsoft console's accessory, "IllumiRoom"
iLOVED the effect @2:20, the one that recreate the room textures and make it "blow" when you shoot,
it's mind blowing *_* !!

PS :
i think once the new xBox is hacked, this device will be the ultimate tool to create pranks  Roll Eyes

Might as well put on an Oculus Rift.

The kinect never really interested me but that I would buy. If it could be made to work with people moving in a room then it would make for some excellent house parties.

Looks really quite an impressive way of compensating for the restrictive fov common in most console games.

Though I wonder what the performance impact would be, and whether it'd be cheaper for people to just adopt wider screen TVs/projectors & bump up the fov appropriately.

Nice idea, however the style of projector (excluding the room sensor) used in that video usually costs 2 - 4 times the amount current gen console sell for. So unless Microsoft have found a really cheap way to manufacture them (don't forget the cost of the actual console), it just looks like an expensive gimmick peripheral.

indeed,
specially at the release date, but it will get cheaper after 6 month or a year   Roll Eyes
also developers will make more games that use those features
i remembered this commercial (i saw a year ago) it's pretty impressive, i really don't know why there is only a few people who use this technology till now

Only thing I use my Kinect for is as a microphone to voice control Netflix.  It's all right, but it occasionally hears conversation and thinks it's a command.  The gesture controls are useless in every respect, I actually have the thing angled so it doesn't see me and go into gesture mode accidentally.  But IllumiRoom loooks ... wow  Shocked

For gaming, I think the rift is still better. As for pranks, one of those pico projectors taped to a kinect might be cheaper

I'd rather wait until I'm old to get natural 'tunnel vision' before I'd pay to simulate it...
