@heezel do avoid creating multiple threads for the same project/game, did notice you had some extra images in your second thread so copied those over to your original thread so you don't loose your replies. Anyway really cool looking project, just curious, you using one of the java game engines? or is it mostly written from scratch using something like an opengl binding?

1 programmer? I don't know whether to be inspired or to give up now (as I can't imagine ever achieving anything as good!)
Looks great, I love ancient themes.

Well, it's based on my own game engine which i started like 2 years ago, rendering triangles , so yes it's pure Java with LWJGL.

Graphics look amazing, nice music However, the walking animations look a bit too much like shuffling than actual walking.

Way to make me feel horribly bad at LWJGL! Nice game though, it looks amazing for one person! It really is inspiring to me. Great work!

This is absolutely amazing, and inspirational. Not only that, but it feels very unique, and while cute in the art direction you have taken, it seems rather brutal. I like this contrast! I wish you the best for this project and hope it becomes hugely successful, with some good publicity and marketing, I am certain this will really take off

Do you plan on adding blood effects, such as if a player is hit, blood will flick across the ground, or if a player dies, his head gets dismembered, or an arm is dismembered or something? As brutal as that may sound, I think it will appeal to an even wider audience, even to an audience that doesn't care much for MMO games. Gamers love gore, and for those that don't, you could make it a toggle-able option so everyone is pleased

My opinion, I don't think gore would fit in very well with the cute style, and would be an overall turnoff.

Happy Tree Friends I think it's creative and worth to try (if the op willing). It shows bold difference between protagonist and antagonist.

Would restrict your audience that would buy your game...American parents are getting worse but a lot of them still don't approve of blood and gore in games like this. If you try it, really try not to overdo it.

hahaha, not smoking anything, just filled with imagination. If there were gore, as I said, you would have to make it a toggle-able option. It actually wouldn't even need to be gore, but just some recognition of a player being hit would give a bit of impact to the combat, since the video doesn't showcase any game audio, he probably already has a hitting noise in there, which is good enough, but I think a visual indicator of a successful strike is also necessary, it could be a spark looking particle from a successful block, or it could be a particle puff (of red or brown/grey) just to indicate that a player was hit. My suggestion was taking it to an extreme though. Because personally I think it would work well in contrast to the cute Chibi art style. I still think that even blood drops being flicked across the ground would be a subtle, but effective indicator of a successful hit. Either way, with, or without blood/gore the game looks awesome and I can't wait to play it (nor can my girlfriend from her reaction when I showed it to her).
