There aren't really that many good books on game programming with Java. I would advise you to pick up a book on Java and go into game development when you've learned how to use the language.

I'm just here to learn.

I know most of the stuff about java gui's graphics threads i just don't really know how to utilize it properly to make games.

The only thing you need to know about graphics is how to load an image and how to draw an image.

Do you know what a game loop is?
