This is my newest WIP Magic Duel, it's not quite finished (no actual gameplay) but I do have a demo: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70454565/magicduel0.1.1.jar

Basically I was thinking a duel between people using magic (think Street Fighter + RPG style), and a rock/paper/scissors system with different elements, requiring fast reflexes.

Controls: WASD for movement, number keys to select spell, click to fire spell

Current Features:
-Spells (particle effects)
-Player sprites
-Menu and screen hierarchy
-Spell selection
-Health counter
-male/female

To Do:
-gameplay - AI enemy
-more spells
-damage
-implement fighting system
-map/background

Yes, those are recolored Link sprites. Hey, I can't draw Grin
Don't worry I'll use my own sprites for any final version of the game.
Please post any bugs/suggestions!

I like the idea of paper-scissors-rock with fast reflexes.

I found a cheat straight away though.  Grin

If you hold down the mouse and quickly cycle through keys 1-6, you can do all the attacks (almost) at once.

Ahh, tricky  Grin
I'll probably make a small time delay between when keys can trigger spells to be fired.

Magic Duel 0.1.1
Original link updated

Cycling cheat fixed (I think)
Filesize reduced to 6.83 MB (removed music, if I add it again I'll make the music size smaller)
Tried to reduce filesize even further but JShrink is breaking the jar, I'll try again later.

Use OGG for music. It saves lots of space

EDIT: Couldn't find any cheats in the new version. I hate you Angry Angry Angry Grin Wink

It doesn't start for me. I have both Java 6 and 7 installed. Don't know what's wrong. It doesn't even open a javaw.exe process

Uh, OS? I enabled OpenGLES 2 because I was too lazy to fix the texture sizes, don't know if that makes a difference.
Any stack trace if running from cmd with java -jar?

Windows XP

Works fine from the command-line. A good start Smiley
