New to Java

I'm new to java game programming and this gaming site. I know programming fundamentals independently. Out of the three java game engines I viewed on the Java Gaming Resources, Slick 2D Engine seems like the way to go. I'm starting a java project and want to know if this gaming site have anything against posting your progress in WIP section if your game is fan-base (ex: based off a anime).

A word of warning, Slick2D is a bit outdated (and it's a library not an engine). LibGDX is more updated and allows porting to html5 and Android, so you might want to look into that.
