Hi All,
I have been programming on a 15" dell inspiron laptop for 4 years now, and I feel that I could greatly increase my productivity if I had a better setup... For now the computer I have will work fine, but I would like to upgrade my display...  I have been looking at monitors and to be honest,  I am a bit lost... I believe I would like a pivotal display, as I like the idea of seeing many lines of code at once..... I would like to ask you all if you have any suggestions for displays, my budget is kind of tight, but I do not want to skimp on this only to get what I pay for.....
Thanks for your time...

Im not really into diffrent types and stuff, but i would really recommend an 16:10 screen, since most screens today are flatscreen, those are very annoying with coding.
I dont know what your budget is, but 2 years ago i bought an nice 21 inch screen with an 16:10 display for $150, programming was never so easy.
To bad im on my laptop most of the time haha.

I have two 'full hd' cheap monitors in portrait mode (2x 140 euro). To me, it's the best coding experience I ever had. For websites it's OK, for movies/games it's horrible. I plan to (some day) add a 3rd monitor in landscape mode.

Is this the show off thread?

and a third to the left which you can see cables for. If I don't need it, I want to Smiley (middle is 3D)

Sometimes having the monitor on it's side can irritate my eyes so I prefer using the middle screen for programming.

The world is big, so learn it in small bytes.

Although I have 19" LCD, I rarely connect it to my laptop so I see on this small 12" display all time. I dont know, but small screen just help me to focus.

Dell Ultrasharp 30".

Hardly think that fits the OP's budget.  Wink

Me, I just picked up one of the new Acer T-series monitors.  23" IPS monitor with 10 point touchscreen.  Is verah nice.
