Introduction :)

Hello everyone,

I've been programming in Java for a couple years now... got my degree in Computer Science back in 2006, and I've been dabbling in game programming since.

In the past I used Pulpcore to make my game, and since support for that dried up (I cried), I've searched around for other libraries before settling in on lwjgl & slick.

I feel like I'm back to square one, but I thought I'd take the time to introduce myself and share what I'm currently working on.


I'm currently working on a browser based 2D side scrolling mmo... some day it might actually become a reality, but for now, here's some screen shots

Can I just ask did you do those graphics yourself? If you did, they're very good!

Having a wife and kid makes it difficult to make large strides as I usually only get to work on the game after the kid goes to bed, which is about 8pm lol.

The character select screen took me about 3 months to do.

3 months? I would never have that attention span to spend on one piece of graphics! Probably explains why my graphics all suck then.

Those sort of graphics make any game look amazing, good luck with your project.

There's a lot more to the character selection screen that I didn't show.

Basically I have a dynamic character customization screen that lets people change their characters hair style, eyes, nose, mouth, etc...

Then about half way through I was like "man... you can't really tell the different nose/mouth..." so that was kind of a waste of time lol. But I figured... if I'm going to program a game, I better put the effort into it so people play it

I did convince a couple guys at work to help me with the programming, so hopefully I see the game go live some time next year lol.
