I already tried almost all programs out of ^that^ list. Unfortunately they are either unusable basic (web dwarf), unstable (sodipodi win versions 0.32 and 0.33) or damn pricy (adobe illustrator/corel draw 11).
I really would like to know if sodipodi works correctly under linux and if there are other (free
) programs wich really works.
If you are wondering what I wanna do with SVGs... well not for realtime stuff. All graphic data is inside of SVG files and rendered once (first start) into PNG files (eg with the Batik rasterizer). That keeps the download size pretty small - SVGs itself are pretty small and they have a nice compression ratio. In addition it would allow to let the user choose a desired resolution; instead of scaling you can just render again. Sharp & sexy sprites
