http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/

I already tried almost all programs out of ^that^ list. Unfortunately they are either unusable basic (web dwarf), unstable (sodipodi win versions 0.32 and 0.33) or damn pricy (adobe illustrator/corel draw 11).

I really would like to know if sodipodi works correctly under linux and if there are other (free Smiley) programs wich really works.

If you are wondering what I wanna do with SVGs... well not for realtime stuff. All graphic data is inside of SVG files and rendered once (first start) into PNG files (eg with the Batik rasterizer). That keeps the download size pretty small - SVGs itself are pretty small and they have a nice compression ratio. In addition it would allow to let the user choose a desired resolution; instead of scaling you can just render again. Sharp & sexy sprites Smiley

Yea... but afaik it does only pathes (read that on several gimp pages) :-/

Btw the problems of sodipodi, sketch and that sodipodi spinoff project (wich name I forgot) have only that serious problems with win9x (broken unicode).

The gimp 2.0 has now full import/export support.

But it doesn't work... bah! Win98 is to blame :-/

edit: sodipodi 0.34 is finally useable for me Grin
