Wait! There's a bug in the theme settings. Select Windows 7 Classic (or just Classic), and then restart Eclipse. Badoomf! It all looks proper again. Thank goodness for that. I feel another upgrade coming on. Cas Nice one, no more insane whiteness! As to the sluggishness: did you turn off animations? That helps a lot for me. And what do ya know, creating a fresh workspace and importing projects into it greatly sped up the startup time for some reason. I guess my Eclipse 3.7 workspace (with the same projects) was causing a headache for Juno in some way or another. It actually booted in a few seconds. I'm now a happy camper.

<rant rant rant> I haven't tried it yet
Heh, I was waiting for someone to point that out. 'Tis why I tried to keep my complaints specific to what you can see from static screenshots. Will I appreciate the new appearance more if I start using it?

No, it's just as hideous on the move, especially as it's sluggish. The whole thing feels like it's being software rendered and composited. Bizarre regression. Cas

So... I'm the only one here who likes Eclipse Juno?
I like it too, don't worry. Let the oldies complain, us youngsters are the future anyway Don't worry ra4king, one day you'll be one of the "oldies," complaining about how much better stuff used to be! It's part of why getting old sucks. http://www.youtube.com/v/saPhxZZQCWk?version=3&hl=en_US&start=

This is ridiculous, it takes around 230ms for Juno on OSX Lion to switch tabs on a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB or ram! Is Eclipse just slow on OSX? I was getting around 300ms before changing to the classic theme. I'm going to log into Windows and compare because that is just unacceptable in this day and age

It's not massively fast here either (Win 7, 2.6ghz i7, 6gb RAM, server JRE7 with all sorts of tuning magic running eclipse, super fast Nvidia, etc, etc). but I do notice that there's a lot going on when you select a different tab - the menus are all completely changing, and all sorts of other little thingies change. Juno runs perfectly fine for me on XP (same specs). Tab switching is near instant on XP compared to the quarter second delay on OSX Lion. it's possible it's to do with Eclipse rapidly triggering automountd, which might be caused by an eclipse.ini setting, but at least it's a little progress. IIRC I had no issues with Juno on Linux either, and it might just be down to some of the plugins I installed for PlayN. We'll see.

Same here, Juno (and all earlier versions) ran super fast with instant tab switching on an i7 2600k + GTX 580 + 16GB of RAM

i7 2600k + GTX 580 + 16GB of RAM I hope you realize how ridiculous it is to mention you uber hardware stats when talking about an IDE - an application which is little more than a fancy text editor and should be SNAPPY.

Ahh it is fun to think of Eclipse as a fancy text editor but we all know that if that were the case it'd be the size of Textpad and run just as fast. Cas

Upgraded this week, except for a few UI differences and the more shiny Splash Screen logo, haven't really noticed many differences both on workstation and laptops. Of course, I'm biased, since I subconsciously equate Juno with Ellen Paige, and thus can't help but love it Anyone knows if it works as a portable App out of the box? (As in, does it correctly handle relative links to resources) I'm using the outdated 3.6.2 EclipsePortable from PortableApps.com on my portable environment (read: iPod).

Been using it for a day now, seems alright, slightly different look n' feel but not much else.
What bothers me most is: 1. Keyboard changes to US English for no apparent reason. I use an Icelandic layout and going to US English layout makes me have to restart Eclipse. 2. The name of the files in the tabs are too large making it so you only see the first characters. If you're working with maybe 10 files you'll only see the first 5-6 characters. This is pretty annoying. I wish they would shrink the font and try to squeeze it better together so you see as many characters as possible.

I use a German keyboard, and have no problems either. BTW, what I really intened to post: I really like, that @see's and {@link blah}'s work in Juno. This makes looking at commented code much more fun Also, there is another feature I've forgotten to remember...

In previous versions you could Ctrl+Click (which is configurable) the item being @see'd or @link'd to. Does Juno remove the need to Ctrl+? Mouse hovers worked on them as well.

I found the whole UI strangely sluggish and somebody had at the very least tickled it with the ugly twig, if not battered it about the head a little. And the drag-out window feature had been oddly crippled so that I couldn't maximise it in my left hand screen (where I keep the console). So I'll wait until it's pretty, fast, and works again. Cas
