Hi

As far as I know, MSIE 10 does not support plugins in Metro style and Java is supported as a plugin in a web browser; therefore, it should not work. However, the mime type is set in the OS. Does Java Web Start have a chance to work even in Metro style?

Web start should work fine.  Applets are toast (including ones using jnlp_href).

Whether you can even run swing at all in a metro-only environment (such as the ARM Surface) is another question entirely.
