The link for the zip version does not work (although I could find and download it manually).
After I set music volume to 0 in the configurations I was able to play it.
Argh, I think I may have copied an older JAR into the ZIP file, whilst the EXE has the correct one. Thanks for picking up on this. I'll update it and re-upload.
About the game itself, it plays well. However I don't like that you use the keyevents to control movement.
When I press "right" I want it to go right all the way, instantly, not that "1 step right... wait a few milliseconds... then all the the way right". You can do that checking if a key is pressed, and not treating events (and that's the way most games do).
This is by design. I would implement an option to change to an instant left/right however I'm unlikely to do so as I want to move on to the next project. However If there's anything I've learned from this and the previous requests for an 'instant down' then it's to improve the design so as to make the addition of such features easier to implement.
The background and the gray bricks around are not very appealing. maybe you can add some stuff just to make it brighter or happier.
Maybe you should replace the bricks for something else, the gray bricks all over just make me sad
I must agree that the background is more than just a bit drab. I'm certainly no artist, however I'm going to see if I can find some appropriate free background art. This is one change that should be simple and quick enough to make!
anyway, good work on finishing a game!
Thank you :-D
