Not related to Java, but this is a very cool demo: http://browserquest.mozilla.org/

Even better, the source is at github, and is a good example of using nodejs to do the server work. https://github.com/mozilla/BrowserQuest

Here's Mozilla's own writeup: https://hacks.mozilla.org/2012/03/browserquest/

Seems interesting. However it loads forever here asking your name.

Lots of clipping problems (cut off sprites) when I finally see 'the world'. I can't do anything: it's not responding to any input.

Using Chrome, obviously. persecutioncomplex

Works totally okay, looks really nice no clipping problem and yes I use mozialla (mostly because it comes from mozilla Shocked)

Guess you shouldn't ask volunteer first, but chit chat to mozilla before about permission? Cheesy

Nice game.
After some quests I unfortunately got stuck exactly at the levelboarder while fighting.

Good. Let someone make it so I can play the game. HTML5 doesnt work here.

Runescape is better. This "game" is fine but extremely rudimentary, it doesn't prove HTML 5 is a good choice for the creation of MMORPG.

What are you talking about? This game is a great example, it proves smooth animations, sounds, networking, and almost any game can be using HTML5.

Calling BrowserQuest a "MMO" is a little tongue-in-cheek.  I suspect Runescape had just a scooch more development time and resources put into it.

Networking? NO! I can't still play it.

Apart from the HTML5 tech, its a nice casual design of a "coffee break MMO".

As most action are automized and point-click without fizzeling with the inventory or stats.

Beeing so simple its very easy to get into.
