@hvince95: here are the dropbox links

https://www.dropbox.com/s/rwu18bxd1t9bhnh/daedalus-0.1.9.jar
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mska11zi1u83grz/daedalus-0.1.9-debug.jar

I hope it will be ok Wink

I did so and after a while of placing in the command into CMD I get a reply saying Launcher - terminate(true)

I tried inside the .jar and I believe it just means the ports aren't open because that's the error I got. maybe some feedback on that with the no gui version?

yes sure, the thing is that I was not planning to make this public right now, so I made the minimum to be able to run some servers on my home  linux server Smiley

I like this game. Grin Especially the graphics.Good job. The only problem was that I was only playing for the first time and I was up against insanely good AI. Emo

Yes. That's true, the AI is pretty hard. We figured that out too.
But it's okey, if you really play much.
I also think that those enemys in the main server are set to the hardest level, so you shouldn't worry too much. They're ment to be like that, I guess...

Btw, we also played with and against less strong enemys and that was pretty fun. They're just the right level.

@matheus23 : yes, the first game we did, where we were never able to win was against bots level hard. And for sure they are hard ( particularly in deathmatch ) Smiley . Then we played versus medium bots and that was more fun Smiley
But I will keep hard as it is and even insane because I think it's good in a game to have a difficulty level that can be really challenging ... and I also know that some skilled players will want this kind of challenge.

@masteryoom : maybe you tried the solo mode ? Actually that's a bit experimental and to tell the truth I forgot to remove it before posting the game here Smiley In this mode there are 2 bots level hard in a deathmatch, and this is quite a challenge as well .. it's hard to finish first even for me who plays every day  Smiley

This solo mode will be a score mode with scores published on internet ( was rebirth idea Wink ), you will be able to select the map + the difficulty and then you will have to do the best score possible ( score depending on final rank, but also damage done to bots, damage taken, direct hits with railgun and rocket launcher, and time to finish the map Smiley ).

I'm glad you liked it anyway, if you only tried solo, maybe you should try also to create a local server, you will be able to adjust the bots level as you wish Wink

@deathpat: I did do it in solo mode.(or maybe it was me being really bad at the game that I thought it was too hard)Is there an option to change the dificulty level?

hi,
I tried running it in Linux with Dual monitor setup.
It split up into 2 monitors.

@hvince95 : you're welcome Wink

@masteryoom : no option for the solo mode yet as it was purely a test Smiley To play against lower level bots, you can just start a local multiplayer game Wink

@wikes82 : yep matheus23 has the same issue running fullscreen .. are you able to change the fullscreen resolution or the one taking the two monitors was the only one available ? ( in options/display ).
The problem here comes from LWJGL ( or linux .. ) ... a workaround is to play in windowed mode

Thanks for testing anyway Wink

I could play the game on windowed mode, minor problem is I couldn't move the window between monitor (the mouse locked inside the window).
btw, It is great game....

alt-mouse or alt-tab doesn't work
but I could use Alt-Space and move the mouse out of the window, but can't move the game window to different screen.
I'm using Xubuntu btw

Hi I get this error
Quote
Cannot link program /shaders/panel.vert / /shaders/basique.frag

I think it is because of the call of the "textureSize" function in the fragment-shader.

Somehow my Intel card doesn't support it I guess.

« Reply #162 - Posted 2012-11-18 18:55:35 »

@Danny02 : Thanks for pointing this, I'll fix it in the next version ( certainly by simply removing the fragment shader which does basically nothing .. Smiley )

@wikes82 : I'm doing nothing that prevents swapping between applications with alt/tab or equivalent .. so this might be caused by the window manager you're using ( I don't know anything about xubuntu, only tested on ubuntu and had no issue with this )

Hi there,

just a bit of an update .. I'm currently working on the level editor. I restarted from scratch using libgdx scene2d.ui instead of SWT. It's working pretty well but I still have a lot to do. I'm quite impressed by how scene2d.ui works even if I was a bit surprised by how the events work ( I still am to say the truth Smiley ). Also the skining mecanism is really easy to use and powerful enough to do all I wanted to do Smiley

Here are some screenshots :

Release it! Cheesy Nao! Smiley

Anyways, screens look awesome Smiley I'm happy you're still working on it. I lost the believe in it, when I tried to go on a server about 3 or 4 weeks ago, and no server was online :L anyways Smiley

ahah thanks for your comments Smiley

oh yes don't worry, I will not give up ! I just stopped my servers because I had no one connecting for a few weeks ... and as it's a home server I prefered to shut it down Smiley

I still can't release the editor now, as it's far from being complete Smiley In its current state, you can only create/modify lights and respawn points. The map that is shown in the screenshots was done with the previous version of the editor, and just loaded in the new one Smiley I'm currently working on the floor brush ..

You're level editor seems nice and clear, it's really promising!
All the textures are gorgeous! You are doing a great job on it !
Last time I played your game, I really enjoyed it. Everything is well done, but the only point that bothered me was the fact that it is almost only focusing on shooting.
But as I said, it's gorgeous. You really have means to make something big, and I hope for you it will be Wink

Thanks for the nice words Smiley
Things might get a little less "shoot all you see" when I will introduce some more gamemodes ( at least CTF .. ) ... but I have to admit that I like this kind of game Cheesy ( big fan of Quake3 and Unreal tournament ... )

You really have means to make something big, and I hope for you it will be Wink

I hope as well Smiley I will try to put this on steam greenlight as soon as possible ... I will then know if standard gamers ( I mean not developpers Smiley ) can be interested in such a game in 2d .. suspense

Languages have nothing to do with the visual beauty of a game. It's only the art, otherwise language doesn't matter. A language is chosen based on the needs of the programmer and Java is easy and sufficient Smiley

Offline deathpat
« Reply #173 - Posted 2013-01-28 19:16:38 »

yes, any language will do as long as you have access to a low level graphics API like opengl or Direct3D ... so I'm really happy that LWJGL ( or JOGL ) exists in java otherwise for sure I would not have chosen this language to make a game ( and therefore I think I would never have made any game because I don't want to go back to c++ Cheesy

Anyway I'm glad you chose java thanks to me Smiley I hope we will see here a project of yours soon Wink

I know that the language has nothing to do with has almost nothing to do with the visual things, i was talking about the game itself... I read everywhere that java is only good for small games and stuff but Daedalus gave me another view of it.
Anyway, I am actually making a game atm (My first lwjgl one) I will call it Zoom, a platformer but don't know what the gameplay will be like. (Already made the maps with text, the ability to zoom and move the screen). Smiley

Hi,

just a bit of an update with a video showing players casting shadows. I'm quite happy with the result so I though I could share with you Smiley
As always, I suggest you to watch the video in HD Wink

Otherwise, I'm still working on the editor, I think ( and hope ) I should be able to provide a fully featured demo soon ...

cheers
