Hi,

I'm planning on updating my java development kit 6.26 installation, and would like to know if i should update to the next minor release 6.27 or upgrade to 7. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

8BitOoze

I am currently avoiding Java 7 since it has some severe bugs. I'm waiting for u2.

Eclipse also doesn't support Java 7 yet, if that has any affect on your decision.

Did they release update 1 yet?

No they haven't released anything after Java 7 yet. I thought the first update after the initial release was #2?

No real reason to stick with Java 6, go with Java 7 and enjoy its new features, language tweaks and speed. The next minor release of Java 7 should be out any day now and fixes all the issues mentioned above. Besides the issues mentioned above aren't really that serious as they only effect a small subset of devs and can easily be worked around, if needed.

i agree, just use it if you like. The only difference between 7 and any other .0 release is that a few journalists went through the bugtracker a bit to early this time.
you could also use the early access build of u2 which already contains the infamous bugfixes which where actually already available as the media picked it up.
