This is awesome, did not get to play much but everything went smoothly for whatever I did get to do. Care to share any information on the networking aspect of the game?
Also, i cant imagine how you could lose motivation for a game like this, it looks like it has great potential and you have come so far, keep it up!
I think that's about it . If you have any specific question, feel free to ask . Thanks for the interest ! That was a great response, Thanks a lot! I dont have any specific questions but I am sure I will sooner than later haha, I will definitely be keeping up with the progress on this game though!

Following kevglass' and Kappa's suggestion, I 've started a devblog . I also baptized the game with this pompous name . For the game itself, I have not uploadad the changes, I'll do it as soon as I have a fat changelog . I've added light and shadows, and I must say I'm quite happy with the result : Right now I'm adding magic and working further on content: more weapons, dungeons, and new weapon types : (i.e. two handed weapons) . I'm also working on weapons and magic skill level . I'll probably upload a new version in a couple of weeks . If there is some aspect of the game you guys are interested, let me know and I'll provide a blog entry .

I played it and it felt like a team had created the game. Don't know if you have already fixed many bugs, but when you are attacked by npc-s and you die or leave an area, then if you go back then the npc-s that attacked you just stand still and you can kill them for exp, coins. Also in the beginning of the game the user should have more potions in the inventory, because they are expensive at first and you die a lot before you can afford them for training levels. The start should always be very easy for the player otherwise they leave.

You die a lot? I only died once when I accidently didn't notice something hacking away at me! If you find chests, there are sometimes apples and potions inside that can heal you up. Plus the more enemies you kill, the more money you get, the more healing/powerful potions you can buy! I would say this game is well balanced.

This is so well done, especially for a game by one person. Although not finished its surprisingly good and so IMO deserves to be featured for now.

This happens while loading the main game (after creating a character and everything). Also, I was able to make a second character with the same username. Then when I logged in later it wanted the first one's password.

Those problems are already sorted out in the new version . In fact I removed the link to the game for now, since this version is so outdated that I prefer players not to spend their time testing it, and save their time and willing to testing for the coming new version .

Oh yeah. Finally I'm ready to update this thread again. As I mentioned before, I was waiting for a fat changelog to make sure people will have interest in testing it again. So here's the changelog: -Magic -Light and Shadows -Day/Night cycle -Quests -Achievements -Bosses -Trade between players -Tombstones (Evolved from an idea by Kappa. When you die you can leave a tombstone with an epitaph. If other players mourn your death you recover some experience lost when died) -Decent Minimap -More enemies, weapons, items, areas I'm expecting feedback on anything you find relevant, but specially on gameplay/difficulty. Thanks in advance ! And finally the link to play: http://gamejolt.com/online/games/arcade/unnamed-testing/5233/PS: I have reset the database, so if you owned an account, you'll have to do it again :/

Thank to Kev I just found out I have uploaded the server with wrong starting position, probably people who tested felt a little lost or that it was a little too hard. My bad. Just uploaded the correct server version. Thanks kev !

that makes a little more sense, when I did it I started in the middle of the woods. It still made sense though, cause there was that old guy who was like "you must save the world, jk, I dunno who you are".

Is this project still alive? I have been searching for an online roguelike since the day Wyvern died. I am very much interested in this project and would love to play this game!

Yes, it is still alive altough I've paused the development for 2 months or so for personal reasons (lack of motivation, in other words). I'll release a new version in some days after I finish some gameplay details. Thank you for the interest !

Dammit! I wanted to play so I could steal ideas for my 3D rogue like! What do I do now? Get creative? God knows what will happen if I try that!

Updates! First of all, I changed the "Rogue like" from the Subject since now I realize this is definetely not a rogue-like. It lacks lots of the rogue likeliness aspects, and now it's more like a hack and slash. In this update I focused on gameplay, I playtested it a lot and tried cleaning all little bugs and glitches, and balancing the enemies, weapons, magic, etc. I also tried to present the player more slowly to all the features of the game. I think I was a little too imaptient to show all the features I've got to offer then things got a little too cluttered. Also added music! I licensed some music from Cristian Anderson, and it really makes a difference! For the rest, added more enemies, weapons, items, areas, magic, etc. Right now there should be like 3 hours of gameplay before you reach the unpolished/unbalanced part. So finally here's the link: http://gamejolt.com/online/games/arcade/unnamed-testing/5233/@EgonOlsen: Your bug should be fixed now. Maybe you won't hear any sound, but the game will start. As far as I've researched, this is a bug in java sound when you have a webcam plugged in and it recognizes it as a sound device.

I really like your no-hassle log-right-in approach. (I had similar during alpha, but now require pre-registration on my site.)
I was in the world, slaying caterpillars in no time (but not picking up the gold because I thought it was radioactive caterpillar blood). I know it's classic to drop the reward items to be picked up, so maybe it's a design decision, but I prefer when item rewards from combat are placed into my gold/inventory automatically.
The world style is nice. It was really pleasing when I came out of the cave into the overworld. I like exploration games, and this world lends itself well to that type of gameplay.
Navigation control is good. Clicking enemies is a bit tricky sometimes. Perhaps consider automatically fighting back if attacked.
(Overall, I think your game is on the same wavelength as mine, in terms of the style of the action. Mine isn't 3D, and I don't yet have caves, but your combat and overall feel is similar. Then again, I could probably say that about most games in the genre.)
Looking forward to exploring more of Reign of Rebels!
