Some time ago I restyled the JGO header and due to the general lack of feedback, it simply was time to modify something else of JGO. From now on, you can highlight the posts of members of your choice. - Open the Profile of the poster
- Go to 'Post visibility'...
- Pick 'highlight posts' from the dropdown box
The posts of that member will now have a light-green background instead of the light-blue one. I, for one, find it very useful to quickly scan a topic for interesting post(er)s. Needless to say you can also choose to hide all posts of a member... fwiw... Feedback appreciated!

If for whatever reason I thought multiple people were interesting on this forum would it be possible to use different highlighting colors for the different users of interest in a thread? It wouldn't need to be a unique color across the entire forum. Otherwise this is cool (but should not be used as a self-esteem boost for you if you access the database to count how many people mark you as interesting).

No worries, it will be for everybody to see. Just give it time, and it will converge to something meaningful.

Just unique shades of green for each user that I've marked as interested in a thread so they look somewhat different if they're next to each other.

Can we also see the 25 least interesting members (most hides)? Am aiming for #3 in this one. I think we all know the top 2 Nice feature btw. I assume people can't see who is hiding them?

Although it'd would be technically the easiest solution, it'd look a bit weird. No worries, it will be for everybody to see. Just give it time, and it will converge to something meaningful. Why am I considered the most illiterate of the interesting people? Out of everybody that highlighted your posts, you had the least 'followers'. You're already rising... go get 'em! My poor attempt at getting Markus, who forgot his password, to join again

@Nate Hey! That's not nice Maybe. But it sure is quiet. Doesn't hide threads though, too bad! Now it does. It hides topics if topic starter is specific member. Obviously this only works on the message-index of each board. Please keep in mind I'm not modifying any queries in SMF. I'm just adding css class-attributes to certain elements and adding a stylesheet that overrides some styles, using those css classes. With this approach, my options are limited, but I really don't want to mess with SMF's internals to get a complete solution. How work the awesome thing? Is it based on something?
Awesomeness is determined by appreciation/medals (not purely the amount, obviously) and some other factors. Interesting members are simply ordered by the amount of people that highlighted them. The actual scores mean very little and are subject to change.

It doesn't have to be a perfect solution to be useful. Back in the day some of us used Greasemonkey to do something similar on the JDCF. If the server will do the hard work for us, so much the better. I'm still confused as to why "literacy" is used in the interestingness ranking, but never mind. Unless you're going to change it to something like "in order of number of potential minions" I suppose it doesn't really matter what it's called.

May be just me, but I'm finding the green highlights a bit icky. Yellow/gold highlights on a blue background might be a more attractive colour scheme. (But then I also consider this to be an attractive colour scheme, so feel free to ignore me. ) Simon
