There seems to be a bug where birds are a tile above. This morning saw the chimney thing you can hit, wasn't on a roof (but you may have fixed that).

Also most platformers use this behaviour (mario, sonic, etc).

Exactly. I assumed that Kev just hadn't got round to that yet. It's a fairly key part of the gameplay because it allows you to avoid overshooting small roofs.

Yay, plays much better now.

Just need the player to get faster and faster now as he runs and to loose speed when he hits an obstacle like a box/chair, having that and you've pretty much nailed the gameplay of the original Smiley

Very nicely done!

I love the level of polish on the game's graphics, especially the running animation.  I see you opted to load that from an image file; I think that was a good choice, it makes the generated objects much less obvious.  Do you have room to make the birds more detailed?

It got quite easy with the new jump system (3598m on the first try), maybe make the speed increase faster so each round doesn't take forever Smiley

eww, was looking forward to spaceships that fly in the background (occasionally dropping a missile), breaking glass and the character rolling when dropping from heights Smiley

new upload plays really well, obstacles don't appear frequently enough (maybe was just unlucky) and don't slow you down enough.

But overall very nice now.

First time 1900, second time 2200. Runs better now but I'm not sure if I noticed anything all when running into the boxes... the camera was shaking a bit but I didn't really notice any speed decrease. Also, they come very seldomly for not doing almost anything Wink

It should now "try" and submit scores to a nice open highscore system I found. This is obviously going to be removed if it turns out to be against the rules, or if we find a way to support a common highscores. It's totally hackable so feel free to try, it's not hard or clever but you know some people get off on it Smiley

Are they more frequent when you run faster? At 3000 meter I got like 10 after each other on the rooftops and then I could easily pass 5000 meters.

Only more frequent in terms of there being more buildings. This is why I didn't want them slowing you down too much, can just use them as a tool to get slower so you can get further (in a very boring way Smiley)

another way you could approach the object/speed thing is if the gaps between the buildings got larger as you progress (as you have more speed and can make bigger jumps) then if you hit a box you'd be at risk of not having enough speed to make the jump.

maxSpeed and maxGap would depend on the distance you've already travelled. That way the character would also speed up quicker from slowdown as you are further into the level.

Hmmm, I thought applet security restrictions said I could open a socket to any server apart from the one I downloaded myself from - with the exception of URLs.. guess not Sad

My score showed 4008 when it asked for a name for the highscores, but after I supplied one and clicked OK the score went down to 3962.
