Good news or bad news? Good news - the mysql db is intact and the forums survive. Hurrah! Bad news - I can't seem to find the rest of the website. How would you like to proceed? Cas rebuild it! make it bigger and better than ever before (hmm, I cant remember where that quote is from )

I have 'somekind' of backup ... but I'd still need my public key installed. I guess we'll need a new forum setup then ... and the wiki is sorta gone ?

Isn't there any backup (server) provided by the hosting company?

Yes, looks like the Wiki has gone Unless it was stored in MySQL. No, the hosting company didn't have any backup, or rather we couldn't afford to pay for it. I'm in favour of setting up a brand new VPS for LWJGL with a new IP address and building from scratch there, and uploading the forum database to that. Cas

I agree. Is there anyone cheaper than linode? - and do we exceed their bandwidth usage? (200 GB for their 20$ plan). We may have to let the extension jnlp stuff go :/

Yes, looks like the Wiki has gone Unless it was stored in MySQL. Well the wiki was mostly out of date anyway, however there was still lots of useful information on there. Luckily almost all of it can be rebuilt back from google cache (provided the cache stays up).

My friend has something at about 20EU for a full Virtual server with 1T of traffic per month in Germany. I have emailed about details. I think 20EU per month for 200Gig without SLA is not so good these days.

I reckon the LWJGL site and forums would do perfectly fine on shared webhosting like Dreamhost. Is there really much advantage going for full VPS in this case?

I meant to also add that I have cleared my desk of a lot of things lately and can donate time if needed. I use Linux 24/7

Well FYI my friend uses this one: http://www.hosteurope.de/produkt/Virtual-Server-Linux-XL16,99 per month for a virtual server with 2GB dedicated RAM, 100 GB disk space. We have 1TB traffic included but now it says that traffic is unlimited.

Hosteurope is fine. We use them for shared webspace and a windoof VPS. Guess their Unix VPS machines were way more better than the windows machines. @wiki: have an old version matzon mailed 2 years ago or so. Stuff i added myself could be redone. But maybe we could chooser another wiki software anyway or use some of their fine plugins //edit: VPS or shared and do we have to handle backups ourself?

What about a wiki rewrite? -- I would be prepared to write a few wiki pages or 3. Update the general advice to reflect the recent changes in drivers and opengl version perhaps?

I think we should discuss that stuff in the forum, when its up. The wiki can wait that long.

While I also think a wiki rewrite would be good, FWIW here are the 10 wiki pages from Google's cache along with the python script that did the scraping. http://n4te.com/temp/lwjgl-wiki.zipWayback machine has some pages but they are old: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.lwjgl.org

Thanks. Will probably go for a new wiki thingy ... someone needs to voice their opinion on that ...
STATUS: - copy of old site online, everything should be fine again, except for the projects page. - forum data exists, but problems migrating from mysql 4.x to dreamhost mysql 5.1 - wiki dead, need to install new one and add content
working on the forum now ...

Well, Matzon, here is the wiki you send me long time ago. Its the whole package. Though there have been updates to the content meanwhile it might help a bit when setting up a new wiki. http://www.evil-devil.com/random_stuff/lwjgl_wiki.rarFor the wiki software i wish something maintain and extendable and of course something we can put into some nice looking layout =)

yeh got that earlier too but that's related to DNS caching as the domains moved recently, should clear itself out in the next day or two. Good Job Matzon.
