Hi you all guys! Im new here.
Im still learning to use plain Java, my goal is to make videogames of course. I wonder wich would be the ideal api to make 2d games?
In my case, i want to develope those games for PC, and above all for fun.

I can see there are quite a few waiting to be browsed out there, could you give me your impressions about them?
Could you advice wich one could be the "best"?

Theres a few to choose from.. i Personally use GTGE
theres quite a few small samples to get you up and running in no time. i found it really easy to understand as i learned it at the same time i started learning java.
It might not be as powerfull as some other game api's but its a good starting point to learn the basics(sprites, sound, etc etc).

Personally I enjoy using the standard Java 2d. So far I haven't been able to max out its capabilities (yet). To me it doesn't require any user clicking agreement window thingys and its already setup, doesnt require any additional downloads, more apt to run on the end user machine or enviroment, plus there are a lot more tutorials and info on it.

I feel when my techniques and endeavors outgrow Java 2d, I will move to an accelerated api.

and maybe Java Sound System of Paul Lamb:

If you need OpenGL access, you can look at JOGL or LWJGL.

There is no ideal API. They all have advantages and disadvantages. I can suggest, however, the Java2D engine, which I used to make Battlement.
