Whenever I sign up to everything I use a new mail address as my domain, since everything addressed to that domain gets to me. When I signed up here I used:

javagaming   @  [NOSPAM]

I've just recieved spam mail to that address. I've never had any here before. I assume the list of mails isn't made available to anyone so I wondering how this has been picked up. Has someone written a tool thats reading profiles?

Anyone else got spam?

Spammers (aka losers) have become very adept at mining HTTP websites for email addresses. Unfortunately that means that if you have an email address in your profile, they can spam ya. I just use SpamAssassin to remove the spam that I receive, but unfortunately there is no way to prevent them from getting to the email addresses. On top of that, people who have mailed you in the past may have had their outlook address books exploited by worms which also harvest email addresses.

Spammers use spiders wich grab mailto links and/or anything wich looks like an email... your email is available as plain text - even with a mailto at the beginning... check that image
