Considering Europe was in shambles after the first world war in 1918, I don't think it's a very fair comparison.

Same deal in the USA, which wasn't in shambles at that time.

Form: http://www.haverford.edu/biology/edwards/disease/viral_essays/redicanvirus.htm
Quote
In the ten months between September 1918 and June 1919, 675,000 Americans died of influenza and pneumonia. When compared to the number of Americans killed in combat in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam combined- 423,000- it becomes apparent that the influenza epidemic of 1918-1919 was far more deadly than the war which it accompanied. (Crosby, 206-207) The United States and the rest of the world had been exposed to such epidemics in the past, but never at such a severe cost in human life.

The influenza epidemic came in two waves. The first wave, in the spring of 1918, took far fewer victims than the second. Americans stricken with the flu that spring wondered at the intensity of its symptoms and its incredible contagion. Doctors noticed that the virus seemed to spread more quickly than it ever had before that year, but did not realize how quickly it would reach epidemic proportion. As summer approached, the disease appeared to have satisfied its appetite for new victims.

However, the second, deadlier wave of influenza was just about ready to unleash itself on the world, and it did so quickly. By August 1918, the Surgeon General of the Army reported that the death rate from disease for American soldiers was almost 2/3 lower than the annual rate for civilian males of the same age. At the end of the month, the Spanish influenza virus mutated, and "epidemics of unprecedented virulence" exploded in the same week in three port cities thousands of miles apart: Freetown, Sierra Leone, Brest, Belgium, and Boston, Massachusetts. (Crosby, 37) It is still unknown whether this was the result of three appearances of a single mutation or three different simultaneous mutations.

The (UK) govt will be leafleting everyone next week.  Expect to be asked to cough into a tissue rather than over other people and to wash your hands frequently.  We're having a contingency planning meeting at work tomorrow.  Probably to plan for the case that someone at work gets it and they might have to get us to work at home for a few days until its clear who else has contracted it. I'm guessing here - will find out tomorrow.

Which film was it that had the prime minister handing out umbrellas to protect against nuclear fallout?
I've got this vision of Mr Brown handing out boxes of Kleenex.

Well if you die then you're dead. And that's that. What's the big deal? It'll be interesting checking out the next life.
Erm... Maybe;
Quote
To die, to sleep--
To sleep--perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub,
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life.

mass hysteria spreads faster than any biological infestation.

following the economic collapse what better way to further subdue its people by to introduce a deadly virus,
yes that should take the heat off the collapse of the worlds society nicely.
People will soon forget the recession just like most of them did with 9/11(which was concocted by america and probably a few other countries, thats another part of a bigger story).
Nothing motivates a human better than fear fear of loosing a loved one, fear of looking ugly, fear of going bald, the list goes on as you can imagine.Fear of a deadly virus.
Its all a distraction an abstraction of a more sinister underlying architecture designed for control, total and utter dominance of You.
They tell you what to wear what to eat who to love and who to not, by the use of subtle suggestions embedded in the media, its all
around you its deeply rooted into your behavioral patterns.
You can change you can see the light you can see the bigger picture.GREED pure and simple GREED
They want more money all the time they are literally sucking the life force out of us.
Its a good job i have to go pick the wife up or i could go on for a long time..lol
Dont always believe the the media tell you to believe. Roll Eyes

I dont think you understand the extent of the Unbrella corporation.

Conspiracy theories are just as infectious. I think the one huge thing missing from all anti-media theories, is a "reasonable" motive. anyone got ideas?

The motive is that everybody wants power. Simple as that.

Now that technology makes it easier, progress towards a totally controlled society is speeding up. With 10 years we're all walking around with chips in our bodies. Cash money will disappear. Everything will be trackable.

We all accept this slow progress, because each tiny step in this process is not worth fighting for.

I honestly cant believe thats its just power/greed humans are subject to moods. all the noted radical leaders were expanding there territories, now there nothing worth expanding.

Lets say that your right, and that we will all be a world of mindless slaves to some single dude.
eventually the dude will die and only stupid mindless drones will be left. and when that happens a new radical will step in and change the system again.

It really aint such a big deal.

ya well, for everyone believing what the US is telling you about 911, just watch, In Plane Sight - 911 Conspiracy
its the best and most logical explanation that the government is lying
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kkp-PXf_qlk
its really great because its purely based on facts, which of course contradicts with the US

fun to watch... also sad... but after a while fun again =D
