Hello,

I though it would be useful for anyone to share the sites I use for free and royalty free game resources, even for commercial games:

Lost Garden: http://lostgarden.com/labels/free%20game%20graphics.html
Really great graphics but not a lot.

1001 Free Fonts: http://www.1001freefonts.com/
All fonts are free for non commercial use UNLESS you pay 20$ for all the fonts. Licencing info: http://www.1001freefonts.com/faq.php

incompetech.com: http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/
A lot of great music in MP3 and Wave format. Licencing info: http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/faq.html

soundsnap: http://www.soundsnap.com/
Tons of great sounds here. 5 free sounds a month. Pro account as low as 30$ USD a month for 100 sounds. Licencing info: http://www.soundsnap.com/faq

Other free resources but with risky or fuzzy terms of use and licences
Absolute Background Textures Archive: http://www.grsites.com/textures/ - Good textures but not one of the best sites
Inet 2 Inet: http://www.inet2inet.com/ - low quality graphics
molotov.nu: http://www.molotov.nu/?page=graphics - low quality graphics
The Peoples's Sprites: http://www.panelmonkey.org/index.php - classic/retro consoles graphics

so you found the stuff you were looking for?

hey I figured I would add on:

here is a site that I got some of my sprites for an rpg from (not sure about licensing?):

http://www.evilmana.com/graphics/lastguardian.php

if you just go to graphics, you can probably get more (never done it though  Huh)

EDIT:

I jsut looked, you cannot make money with it :/

Not for all. For fonts, sounds and music it's mostly covered but not for graphics. I love what's on Lost Garden but there's not enough stuff there. I just sent an email to istockphoto and terms of use/licence. I'll see...

Art:

Reiner's Tileset: http://reinerstileset.4players.de/englisch.html has lots of free stuff.  There should be something for everyone here.

Sound:

Beachware: http://www.beachware.com/clip.htm sells "A Zillion Sounds" cd.  I bought it and used it in my last game.  Alot of the sounds are useless for any particular game, but there should be something for any game just because of the vast number of sounds.

I was going to list Inet Software, but you've already got it.  I haven't used it yet and aren't entirely sure what to do with it.  So maybe I shouldn't list it anyways.

Google.com + Photoshop = texture that can't be proved it was stolen from Google.  Shocked

Hmm, still risky if the texture is somewhat unique or recognizable.

For textures: http://www.cgtextures.com/ - excellent texture site with clear license, you can use them in both free and commercial works, free with limited quota 15MB per 24 hours, or membership 49/99/199 EUR per year depending on type

For music: http://www.jamendo.com/ - creative commons music, can license for commercial usage, besides gamedev usage, it's also great to listen to Smiley
