I went through the exit on map 3 and it crashed. I can't find out how to get it to show me why it crashed though.

I am working on some new huge maps.

the one I have done is 50 by 15 tiles.

What about a huge tall map, allowing the need for a jetpack Cheesy

It's a bummer I still can't get this to run. Could you link a JAR somewhere so that I can have a look? Webstart gives me a mysterious Exception which of course means nothing.

jar doesnt work, i dont know why. i can only use webstart :/.

I will make a super tall level, thx fo rhte idea i needed some Smiley.

I am currently making npc. I am not that far in, I am only at the point where the player presses space on him and it activates, but it only prints "npc activated". So I got a ways to go!

I figured I would give a progress report.

I have gotten it to the point where the npc can move, there are break points where you have to press space.

It has the ability to talk, the gui isnt done though. It just apears in console :/.

I am about to add a pause, which will be very necessary in dialougue.

I hope I can get something out soon.

another idea on your enemies AI, only allow some of them to jump and leap off and some have to stay on the platforms Smiley cant wait for the npcs Smiley

The jar doesn't work because you signed it with jar signer. Make a unsigned one with the original manifest and it'll work.

I have tried that before, I think it has to do with the slick.

I could change the classpath to include the slick jars. I will look into this.

Slick relies on LWJGL which uses hardware access and so needs to be signed. You can try to get it running in an Applet, apparently that's pretty easy with Slick.

Transparency = PNG image with a transparency layer.
Busted out my java game dev book and saw a section on transparency and said it was easier to make it png in photoshop or gimp with a transparency layer then bothering with code and java does it for you.

Hope that helps with that problem Smiley

items, havent you seen it?

I am about to add a selling function.

so if the shop is open and you press on something int he inventory it gets sold.

it is sold for 2/3 of what you can buy it for.

k, version 1.8.1 is out.

you can sell stuff now Smiley.

I took out the items at the bottom of the base, cause otherwise you could just pick up stuff and then sell it.

anything past lvl 2 does NOT work.

I had blanked lvl 3 so it is all screwed up.

It was during the process of making new levels.

enjoy.

something that will make quests easier:

1.8.5 is out!

It doesnt seem like such a big jump, but with giving npc the ability to chagne the room is big. This will help with quests like I said before Smiley.

talk to the guy on the left, he will take you to his house, then talk to the guy there, he will take you back.

Cheesy its getting soo good. Nice job on the pngs. yeah paint wouldnt do it of course you would need layers Wink

you might want to add a loading level screen, for that big one you had it took a couple secs of loading, i thought it crashed.
Also maybe add a hotkey for the fireball and inventory hotkeys like 1-9 for slot 1 hit 1 etc... Smiley or create a hotkey area for someone to put their potions in hotkey 1 slot etc...thats up to you but it would be nice Smiley

good job keep it up. everyday there is new stuff which is cool.

thx, glad to know you like it.

I like the hotkey Idea. In the time since I read your post I thought of how to do it.

sadly though, I cannot work on the game until sunday Sad.

next thing I will do is quests.

I m gunna do them in a GW way. so I will sue this "teleporting" thing and move you to an area, and then at the end of the quest, you talk to a guy, and he finishes it for you.

bu tlike I said, til sunday :/.
