Ahoi Community,

let me indtroduce the free java online game project, VogelSang, a bard's tale.

A turn based 2D strategygame with role playing elements.

After nearly one year development of the game, we would like to share our first tech beta.
This beta does not include the full game, as it is disigned as an online game, but should give a first impression.

The beta covers no opponent ai and may contain some serious bugs,
but if u would like to test it, here are the links to the download.

U need java >= 1.6 enabled.
(The game is compiled for windows, but later on it should work
with MAC or Linux).

If u have problems to run the game and use an ATI-Grafix Board
u may try this link:

U may use this link to get the zip-Version of the game.

Any comments would be nice.

some screens of the game:

It works fine under Mandriva Linux 2007, ATI Radeon 9250 Pro with an open source driver  Grin 20 FPS. I'm impatient to see how the game will evolve.

The interface isn't entirely intuitive.

Your game looks great!  started and ran @ a solid 60fps 1024x768 resolution on 2ghz machine with 8x00 nvidia gfx card.  The user interface looks very nice, but it's totally unintuitive *how* to play the game.  I couldn't figure the controls out.  I chose english and I did notice a couple spelling errors.  "foreward" should be "forward" and "battel field" should be "battlefield" but those are totally minor bugs in the bigger scheme of things.  The artwork looks great by the way!   Cool
