Smells to me like a compatible native library is not included in the WebStart download.

For what it's worth the LWJGL gears demo runs fine.

yeah, I didnt include the solaris natives. I have now included them using:
  <resources os="SunOS" arch="x86">
    <j2se version="1.5+"/>
    <nativelib href="solaris.jar"/>
  </resources>

I hope that works.

How is the video card support on the solaris operating system?
Does it support most new video cards?

nVidia makes solaris drivers so there is good support for nVidia hardware.  Various Intel and ATI cards are supported as well.
I saw a list somewhere but I can't find it now.

yeah, there must be a problem with OpenAL.

Do you here music on the menu? if so then you should be able to go to the options menu and put on software audio instead.
