All,

Please see the Java Games Home page when you get a moment.  We have a new reporting engine up on the site and you will FINALLY start to see regular news and postings from us on the front page.

I think there is a missing </tr> or a table tag is still open or something. The layout looks horked in both Safari and Mozilla on the Mac (they are little more sensitive to unlevel HTML tags).

There appears to be about 60 lines of white space beneath the last article and the "Daily News" section.

AH! That little "whitespace", intentional and will be filled up as more articles are posted (Think iFrame Smiley )

Yes...it's filled now, but now I have a scrollbar around that stuff. I hate scrollbars within sides, now i have 2 of them on the screen.

Can't you remove the IFrame ? that would remove the problems with spaces and scrollbars?

And could you create a system that allows to see only the headings of the news and press the link to see the real news, not to post the news within the main site?

thanks in advance Wink

I wouldn't mind - except that the iframe takes up three screenfuls, so I have to scroll the page a bit, then scroll the iframe a bit, then scroll hte page a bit...Sad

Ok, so here's the deal.  The news sits on a separate server and we don't have access to the raw HTML to modify the page.  SSOOOooooo...It's either iframes or very little updating on the front page.

ALso, in an effort to keep the site as simple to maintain as possible, we will be posting the news articles to the front page and links to other stories.  Sorry Smiley

Sooo... have you guys tried dynamic inclusion? You should be able to download the remote HTML server side and include it in the page automatically! Of course, I'm not really sure what language CSP is, but one would assume it would allow this sort of thing...

I may be new to JAVA but I am an old HTML/CSS/FLASH 'guru'(almost) and I would have to say:

Without extensive overkill...the problem cannot be avoided.

Hm, you can use a cronjob to retrieve the news every hour. Parse it (using RegExp) and put the data in your database or a plain news file. :-) Or even better: the "other" server can provide a way to get the news.

I should shut up now. Grin

Am I the only person who's been unable to see the news inside the front page, and unable to access these forums, for the past four days?

I appreciate this could be a difficult to answer question if other people have been locked out but have given up re-trying Smiley...

I'm not looking for a million "Works For Me"'s, but perhaps other people have had some trouble with this too, or someone knows a reason why the front page would load entirely except for the middle section, and the YABB forums URL just waited forever for a response from the webserver?

Hmmm...this is the second time I have heard this issue over the past few days.  The forums and news pages live on a separate server from another ISP.  Perhaps they have been having traffic problems.  I will look into it.

Thanks for the heads up!

Counter story to Aug 28th's lead.

Slashdot | Possible NVidia Link To PS3 Disputed
http://games.slashdot.org/games/03/09/01/1551227.shtml?tid=127&tid=137&tid=152&tid=185&tid=186&tid=212

When I first say the partnership, it's sounded off to me.  I aksed around my developer contacts down here, in and out of EA's Tiburon office and they said that sure doesn't sound like the direction they've heard.  AAMOF, convincing Sony to have ANY kind of shader support has been uphill...so a deal with nVidia sounded very strange...

Anyone else hear more beyond this?...
