Hey guys once again im having trouble with getting my application to be a webstart.

So like i said in my making an signing jars post im using a combination of kev's coke and coke webstart and the suns webstart tutorials.

Now i have my jar working and signed i can pass it to another computer and when you double click it it opens and runs. So the only thing i see left is creating the .jnlp file and linking to it.  So i atempted copying kev's from his tutorial editing the fiels to make it work for me. Now before i post it up on the website i figured id test it like i do html files. You know double click it and it opens and runs. I think this could be one error because the jnlp has under get code base the url for where its located.

well hers the jnlp and a description of my errors

so i am thinking that the issue is that i don't have it posted up at the url i have specified yet. Which i wont have the ability to test for a few more days because www.theonlineimage.com is my buddies site that I'm going to host my game from.

Thanks in advance for any tip help and advice hopefully once i get this figured out ill post a link for everyone to try the game.

com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: http://www.theonlineimage.com/greatgunner/webstart/greatgunner.jnlp

Says it all, really. In order to get an up to date jnlp javaws will first download the jnlp on its own. If that doesn't work it stops.

Ok well this web start project has really become a pest. Once again i am stuck and asking for your guys help.

I have the .jnlp its names web4.jnlp and it is all uploaded tot he web. When i click the .jnlp file when it is off the we and just on my desktop it loads the game no problem so im guessing the jnlp works. However when i link to the .jnlp all i get is the xml in a text form it doesn't run the app. I know my browser can handle web start because i have played your guys games using it. SO i figured it was the issue in suns frequent problems. The server doesn't have the right things to run it. So as http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/javaws/developersguide/setup.html says and the server is Apache i added application/x-java-jnlp-file JNLP to /ect/mime.type .However i still get the issue any other ideas what could cause it?

if it helps i have it posted here
http://www.theonlineimage.com/mike/
yes the page is boring I'm going to make it look like something once i get the web start running

As always thanks for any help

Changes to mime.type require a restart. Also clear your browser's cache (content-type and content-encoding caching is usually pretty aggressive).

Well the file was locked so we couldn't modify it but we sent an  email to the provider and they did it for us. So I'm hopping they did a restart ill try reseting the browsers cache. But i don't think its the issue because i have tried from a few different computers

You could use .htaccess instead see:
http://kaioa.com/node/45

I also explain there how to check content-type and content-encoding. However, you would need other addtype directives:
1
2
AddType application/x-java-jnlp-file .jnlp
AddType application/x-java-archive .jar

The former is absolutely required and the latter doesn't actually seem to make any difference, but it's the correct mime type.
