Yes so after some digging you have probably given up a few times after learning that you cannot seem to get on your feet with RuneScape right? Well here you go... All the info you need to get onto your feet...

Well... No RuneScape 2 isn't even 3D....

Yes you are probably saying what the F--K?! Dude it's 3D haven't you played it?

Truth to be told yes I have played it and have been trying my luck to find out what kind of game engine RuneScape is run on. And boy when I thought it was 2D I was WRONG. Okay you see RuneScape is no where near 2D now is it?

Okay well now that you are baffled at how RuneScape isn't 3D when it strictly puts itself off like it is 3D... You are wanting to know what kind of 'dimension' the game is in right? Well okay I'll tell you...

RuneScape is : Pseudo-3d - AKA 2.5D

Yes, you are wondering how? Well a few facts of Pseudo-3D for you:

1. When using 2.5D and constructing land you may either make a ground, sky, or both (if you use both it'll appear 2D (as in old mario games). So that is why RuneScape HAS NO SKY and ONLY a ground.

2. A Pseudo-3D engine also is very easy to make user friendly. Thus making Jagex add new 'content' really fast at an unbelievable rate.

3. 2.5D is also very easy to debug. You do not have to go into collision detection much at all (hence runescape you stick to one square and one square only).

4. You know that $250 graphics card that you bought and wonder why RuneScapes game play doesn't improve one bit on it? Well it's because once again RUNESCAPE doesn't use accelerated 3D graphics (IT DOESNT EVEN USE 3D GRAPHICS). Thus meaning that RuneScape can hit ANY computer that supports the requirements to play the game. So when you get lag in runescape either you do not have the specs to play, it's your internet, or you're on a bad server.

5. Another fast fact: In 2001 RuneScape Classic was releases, 3D Isometric graphics right? Well then comes 2004 and RS2 was released. All JAGeX did was update their 'Sprites" and there you go... 2.5D (fools the eye into thinking it's 3D).

6. You hate that dreaded interface RuneScape has right? Well in 2.5D you cannot minimize anything in that screen. Henceforth Jagex can only change the look but not how you interact with it.

With me passing this knowledge unto you, you should probably pass it on to every other gamer who wants to beat Jagex at their own game...

RuneScape 2 isn't even 3D
Wrong! Runescape is true 3D but with limits on the z-buffer and camera angles. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

As for beating Jagex at their own game - spend years developing a game, take care of your players and give them what they want then charge them a fair price for the full game - it's that simple! Anyone can do it...
