java applets

Hi, I'm new to this site. Im not sure but i need some help, I play a game called spades at iwin.com it runs under a java applet. We have a few hackers that keep crashing the lobby, They also can change the font color and chat and show up in the lobby chat but their names wont be listed in with the other players. Could anyone give me some advice on how this can be done. Would they need to be using a virus in order to do this? Please help!! Thanks
