Web Start Saving Local Files

I have my app deploying from web start. Normally the player settings files get written to the file system along with logs. However, when I deploy with webstart this doesn't seem to want to work. Nothing goes wrong, just doesn't persist..

So, does webstart create a new location each time? Has anyone stored files locally with webstart?
