netbeans and fonts

I know this is pretty random question to ask here (and a few people are gogin to say just use eclipse ) but I'm trying to use neatbeans a bit to get the hang of it (I use eclipse at work and fancied somthign different at home).

So far I like pretty much everything about it, except ro the really ugly fonts!  Well it's not to mucht eh fonts but there is no smoothign on them at all and it makes then pretty diffcult to read   Even gedit has nice smoothing.

For reference I am using ubuntu dapper drake and jdk 1.5 (from teh ubuntu repositories) I notice the same thing on windows too. 

So any one know if there is anything I can do about this or will I have to just use eclipse?  I've tried lookign itn eh settign but to no avail.

Menu>>Tools->Options->[Advanced Options]

In the opening dialog:
Options
+ Editing
   + Editor-Settings

Click on "Text Antialiasing" right beneath the "Expert" header
