I'm asking mainly because all the sitting I do to program is giving me some serious joint pain, and I would love to write all my programs in NetBeans simply by thinking the keyboard and mouse movements. I could be standing up or lying down, or anything else. I imagine other folks would have other reasons to like such technology.
But I've yet to hear of any devices that have left the research lab. Is this a major new area in computer development, or is this still science ficiton?
Definitely science fiction.
Best experimental systems, with the highest trained users, type 15 words a minute. (And thats brand new research, previous systems were 3 to 5.)
Something people dont realize when looking at this sort of thing is that it is hardly "mind reading". It is recognition of specific states of nuerons that peopel have to train and cocentrate on to be able to create.
If your back is bothering you, get an ergonomic chair or one of those standing computer stations. You will be a LOT happier.
