Simple (very simple) arithmetic game - how fast are YOU at doing mental arithmetic?

    http://mindcandypuzzles.com/index.html?friendstag=java-gaming.org

NB: that's not a referrer URL Wink - its just so your practice scores are automatically shared with anyone else who follows the same link. You can if you prefer just go to mindcandypuzzles.com and it will work just as well.

This is a quiet release, almost a pre-release, so there are several bits that really aren't good enough, sorry Sad. But ... I hope you enjoy anyway.

Challenge - in this mode, you need a perplexcity.com account (sorry - saves me a LOT of problems; you can register within the game), you only get to play once per day, and (assuming you used a real email address - you did, didn't you?) you get an email at the end of the day with a mini leaderboard of everyone who played, plus info on your best / worst score to date, averages, etc (this is why you need a perplexcity account - it handles all the DB stuff so that I can generate those stats).

Practice - just play as much as you like. If you enter a name or email at the end, it will appear on the blackboard at the start of the game, if its good enough.

Either I'm an idiot (possible) either key input doesn't work on Linux/Firefox 1.5/Java 1.5..
(It seems like the applet is never focused, even with the mouse cursor in it and having clicked several time..)

Updated last week with a FAQ that explains this (seems it's a bug in firefox)

Yeah, I'm 20 years old, apparently Smiley. The first game is a bit of an homage, but you should see how different it is as the subsequent games start to appear.

Probably no-one's going to believe me Smiley, but ... we decided to do this *before* the Nintendo GDC keynote where everyone got free copies, and suddenly a load of developers discovered BA. Although we did have a bit of an "oh, bugger, now its going to look like we just cloned it" moment when that happened Sad.

Just fixed the nightly emails. One of the 3rd-party lib files was missing, and the NoClassDefFoundError was going to System.err but not to the logfile Sad.
