I've just noticed that in addition to being JGO Ninjas, Senior members etc, some people are designated as part of a shadowy group known as "Java Core". Behold! The damning evidence! The implications are semi-clear: Java Core is either: - An intrepid group of superheros, fighting the forces of ignorance and prejudice.
"Holy classpath MojoMonkey! Gamedev.net forumites are still saying that Java doesn't do JIT!" "This will not stand! To the JavaMobile!" - A sinister hive mind, and our eventual assimilation is inevitable.
I, for one, welcome our new Java Core overlords.
So does anyone have a sane explanation?

If I did have a sane explanation it would be so much less entertaining than your suggestions that I don't think I'd have the heart to post it.
Also, no, I don't have one.

That's right, Area 51 Java Core does not exist. It just means that we erm...just drink lots of coffee, that's all. Honest. Oh, and we hang around on a harmless internet forum silently deleting unacceptable posts. *cough*

Further shocking evidence of a conspiracy that reaches right to the very top. Cas usually signs off with a normal smiley: A warm and friendly gesture of levity. But when posting as a representative of Java Core, out comes the ambiguous shaded smiley! He may appear to smile, but who knows what machinations are concealed behind those obsidian lenses? Perhaps the gaunt stare of one who has done and seen too much of what is forbidden by the very gods?

It is clear to me now that the ultimate aim of Java Core is to resurrect this man: They have already prepared an identity that the freshly-risen abomination can assume. Or maybe I've got too much time on my hands...

My friend's uncle heard from an earlier roommate that the Java Core is a special group of genetically and cybernetically engineered programmers which the government experimented with in the 1990s. The project was abandoned when an experiment went horribly wrong!
So that proves it!

Well new Intel's CPUs are called core. Because of marketing the next wave would be called core 2. Sure there is no relationship.

Thats all nonsense. Its a secret foundation, specifically developed to genetically engineer sheep in an attempt to wipe out the talking paper clip population from the world. The sheep's fur changes to metal and is fired in all direction, like an exploding grenade, but the fur is homing; it will latch on to the nearest paper clip and destory it, inflicting multiple wound damages to the torso and the looped part of the clip. After which, the sheep go and regenerate their fur by eating grass... It makes sense!
