Swing components with Stereo mode

I'm creating a GLCanvas-based application in stereo mode, and it works, but I'm having troubles with other swing components (either on the same frame or elsewhere).  With the stereo window up, any new Java component that's generated seems to paint most things only to the left eye (some, like frames and the like, show up in both).  Does any one know any kind of work-around or fix for this?
