I just added a Who's Who page in the Wiki.
If all the Sun folk could fill it in we would actually know who we are talking to on the forum Smiley

There was a nice welcome post in the nasty forum which is lost. It detailed all the Sun people and their jobs. If somebody has a copy of that, it could be posted here, on the Wiki or both.

If contributors to the various projects wish to add their name, nickname and job to the page that would be great. I have already made some categories.

Good idea.  Here is a copy of that introductory post from Doug Twilleager (aka yensid).

Welcome to the new games community at  I want to give a little introduction to the new Java Games technology group, what we are doing, who we are, and how we got here.

I am Doug Twilleager, the chief architect of the Java Game Technologies group.  Our group's mission is to ensure that the Java platform is the best platform for making networked games.  We are looking at all sides of the platform - servers, desktop, and mobile.  The things launched here at are aimed at the desktop, but our reach is all encompassing.

Next, let me introduce the members of the team that you will most likely encounter here.  There is Chris Melissinos (SpaceGhost) who does marketting and business development. Jeff Kesselman (jeffpk), many of you know and love.  He is leading the architecture of the server side components, as well as the jinput stuff.  Dan Petersen (djp) is the 3D contact.  He has worked in 3D (Java 3D, OpenGL, XGL), for many years, and is focusing on the jogl project.  Athomas Goldberg (athomas) has a very eclectic background in the games industry, which he can gladly detail, but right now he is helping Jeff with the server side as well as joal. You may also encounter Juan Soto (jsoto) of JXTA fame, who is helping keep our group focused.  :^)

We would be remiss in not thanking many of the people who have helped to inspire us to launch this new community.  They include the JSR-134 expert group, who completely supported moving their work to this community and all the Java games developers who continually pushed us to add new technologies to the Java platform.  And most of all, we thank all of our great friends at

So, where are we going from here.  First and formost is communication.  We are your conduit for getting your needs known to all the Java technology groups at Sun.  We will also focus on helping you all get the most of the current Java platform.  We will be launching more technologies here, but the timing has not been established yet.  Believe it or not, we are currently working to resolve a number of issues that you have already raised (including these forums).  Be patient, some of these things take time. :^)

Now, having said all that, I'm going on vacation.  :^)  I think you will see a lot of the JGT team taking some down time over the next few week.  But fear not, when we get back, we're taking it to the next level.

Thanks. I filled in the names and nicks. I think I'll let them fill out the job section.
