When do we do it ?
Actually people who visit joode.dev.jav.net should be disappointed if they see there's nothing in CVS.

Rumor has it that Sourceforge is providing Subversion repositories for all projects soon.. I would rather have a subversion repo on source forge than a CVS repo on java.net.

Yeah I got a mail about subversion. I think they want it to go wide across all of sourceforge by the end of the month (which is imminently)

I have never used subversion but I know everyone loves it. What does it do that is so slick?

Read the features/propaganda here http://subversion.tigris.org/

The main thing is that it tracks directories and renames better than CVS, has cheap branching, atomic transactions involving multiple files, and good support in the tools. E.g. Subclipse plugin for Eclipse is very good,  TortoiseSVN provides great integration with the Windows graphical shell.

You can scroll down on this page http://subversion.tigris.org/links.html to read articles and reviews

yes.... we do indeed now have subversion on CVS, though I have to do some admin to activate it. Which I am not going to do right now. I think at the moment I put a link to the sourceforge website on java.net for JOODE.

Yeah, that'd be better than nothing.
