I was right come in with the intention to help the approval of my project and... here it is, already disapproved.
Okay.
However I just would like to add some info about the project here for you java guys to know, hoping that someone can give us a direction.
What it is
=======
DimensioneX is an Open Source Multiplayer Game Engine. Technically speaking, it is a Java Servlet which is capable of parsing files written with the DXW syntax (Fully developed and available at
http://www.dimensionex.net/files/devref573.zip). It supports scripts or making game objects to interact. The scripting engine is rather intelligent since it supports OOP and SETS/ARRAYs.
With its very simple and specialised syntax, you can write a multiplayer world which can include images, sounds, videos, everything the web supports. This is mainly because DimensioneX uses standard web technlogies and protocols so each game developed with it cn be run with the browser.
DimensioneX is particularly effective as an educational tool.
It has been used to teach multiplay gaming at the University of Turin, Italy, in a comercial course in Bologna, Italy
DimensioneX files are UTF-8 ASCII and it supports many languages, including chinese. You can develop games in virtually any language.
Developed games
==============
Several games hav been developed with it. Hosted by netarray.com and Gamesclan.it, they are some Fantasy RPGs, adventures, even Board/table gaemes. Games can be accessed here for you to try:
http://www.dimensionex.net/en/onlinegames.htmWe have even developed a WordPress plugin capable of plugging into any site built with WordPress a selection of our multiplayer games.
Some numbers
============
DimensioneX was born in 2001. Since then it has had hundreds of thousands of downloads. comments are mainly positive.
The online games page has been visited 162,000 time this year, plus other 80,000 the italian version.
We count more than 400 users subscribed in our mailing list, many of which are members of the project.
More info can be found on our site:
http://www.dimensionex.net/en/docs/dimx_info.htmWhy we wanted support from Java.net?
==============================
We think that DimensioneX is a very valuable tool. We would like to have the most used development tool, the Developer's Reference, to be a WIKI rather than the current PDF format.
Also, we thought that such a tool, demonstrating the effectiveness of Java tecnology, would be of some interest for the Java community.
