1  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Avatars with information: Avatar Encoder on: 2007-06-11 20:43:49
Thanks for the comment, I take it into account, I thought about it, but I wanted to finish this first version yesterday (I did it during the weekend), so I keep it 80X80 for avatar purposes Smiley Perhaps you have a new version available soon Wink
2  Games Center / Archived Projects / Avatars with information: Avatar Encoder on: 2007-06-11 17:18:36
Hi, I want to show you my last program, it is an Avatar creator that allows you to write textual information that will be saved inside the avatar image. Then people with the program will be able to read that information from the image. So you can convert you avatar into a presentation text, a piece of pixel-art with personal information or something similar Smiley You can download and try the program here:

Download Avatar encoder

And here are some examples:

If you want to know more you can go to my blog or ask me here. I would love to read your opinions about the program and its usability Wink

3  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: FINALLY! 4K public vote is OPEN! on: 2007-05-07 09:35:35
I want to see the results!!  Grin
I think it's been enough time for everybody to vote. If some people didn't vote it should be because they are not very interested... Huh
4  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: FINALLY! 4K public vote is OPEN! on: 2007-04-23 13:47:31
great work, although I miss some comentaries options...

where can we see the ranking with all the votations? How much time do we have to vote?
5  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: 4K Judging -or- "All the Cool People were doing it" on: 2007-04-18 19:09:10
Hi hclower, I just wanted to say thanks. These unofficial judgings are very useful. I didn't have many comments on my games when I sumitted them and they are my very first games, so I appreciate yours comments a lot.  Cheesy
6  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Inofficial Feedback II: My thoughts on: 2007-04-18 19:03:36
Hi Morre, thanks a lot for the feed back, I think that everyone really appreciate it. I'm learning a lot with yours remarks  Grin
7  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Inofficial Feedback on: 2007-04-04 10:00:55
Yes, Thank you for the volunteer work and thank you for commenting Abbysal Cave4k ! Smiley you have cheer me up with that mark  Grin

The player controls a diver swimming through an underwater world with the goal of collecting (what is that?) donuts.

lol, I had to reduce some graphics and story because of the lack of time and space. They are suposed to be some kind of medical algae that you have to collect in the dangerous deep waters.

Graphics:  2 the graphics are good looking procedural graphics (except the diver)

The diver was an experiment with monocrome images wich turned to be a little odd between all those procedural graphics.  Roll Eyes

Thank you again! I'll keep an eye on the rest of your feedback
8  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: The results are IN! on: 2007-04-03 11:16:24
In my opinion judges would be more useful and would be more fair. We were all waiting for the judges' results and commentaries and with that new system we only will have some numbers (maybe only one number? please, don't use the YouTube system!!). Besides, when the public vote always happen that the most voted are the most played, so the last entries will have less opportunities. And I'm not going to play every game to vote...

if many people vote and you allow comments and several numbers in each game (graphics, enjoyable, game life, for instance) it may be interesting.  Grin
9  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Abyssal & BB codes on: 2007-03-11 17:37:27
Ok, Thanks, I wrote an incorrect URL, problem solved  Grin
10  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Abyssal & BB codes on: 2007-03-11 13:11:25
Hi, I have uploaded my codes in case someone wants see them.

<a href="http://juanmi.malak.googlepages.com/x.java"> Brain Burning 4k </a>: This is my very first game in 4k so the code isn't very optimiced and it's quite simple.
<a href="http://juanmi.malak.googlepages.com/c.java">Abyssal Cave 4k </a>: In this my second game I tried to optimice a little more, this code is not so easy to read as the first one, the seaweed effect is implemented in the paint method, they are only curves whose control points rock from left to right,  the corals are lines which are drawn in a tree structure, the commented part was used to generate progressive colors. Enjoy the reading! ;P

You can comment or ask if you want, I will answer as far as I can Wink

(Sorry about my english, I'm not very quick today)

15  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Abyssal cave 4k on: 2007-03-01 00:23:59
I did it! more or less...

I had to sacrifice the colorful corals and now you have random color corals ;P

In fact, now it is a bit smaller than the maximun but I'm too tired to improve it anyway.

I'm glat because the game will enter the contest altought I now that it has some bugs and the gameplay it is not very exciting ;P Thanks to Captain Jester and ahristov, you have made it possible  Cool

The definitive game: <a href="http://javaunlimited.net/games/launch.php?type=file&id=169"> Abyssal cave 4k (final version) </a>
16  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Abyssal cave 4k on: 2007-02-28 21:22:00
Thak you very much, I will try to fit it the 4kb Smiley
17  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Abyssal cave 4k on: 2007-02-28 20:25:23
Hi Captain Jester,

Thank you for commenting. But I thought that the time was over, isn't it?

I didn't use proguard, but jshrink, a java program I found I don't remember where ;P

Yes, the files are for the images of the player, I wanted to put some images but I preffered to do more procedural graphics, but they are binary coded into unsigned ints, so If I write it in the .java they would be bigger, wouldn't they?

I check the wiki, but I didn't have time to revise all the code in order to apply some of the tricks.

can I do these things yet? can the game enter the contest? Roll Eyes
18  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Deadline today! on: 2007-02-28 16:27:12

20  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Abyssal cave 4k on: 2007-02-28 16:06:55
Ok, it could have been better but I've run out of time.
It's quite beautifull but I would have like to implement some features like fishes and a torch.
Maybe next year or out-contest  Grin

Here you have a couple of screenshots:

And the game: <a href="http://juanmi.malak.googlepages.com/abyssal4k.jar"> Abyssal Cave 4k </a>

Comments are apreciated, I'm aware of some bugs like the bad looking went you're at the end of a cave, but you can comment as many bugs and stuff as you like, It's useful to learn Smiley
21  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: will Abyssal Zone be finished on time? on: 2007-02-28 10:18:02
I don't know ahristov ;P I only wanted to do some plants or corals so I thought that a tree like drawing will be ok. I don't know a lot about theory in procedural graphics, I'm only trying some things for fun  Roll Eyes

But I'm running out of time!!!  Undecided I only have several hours left...
22  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / will Abyssal Zone be finished on time? on: 2007-02-28 00:50:49
Hi, I'm programming another 4k game for the competition and I wanted to know that (If I finish it), can I submit it during march 1st? the deadline is 0:00 or is it  allowed to submit games during the day?  Huh

I'm trying to do some nice procedural graphics in 4k. wish me good luck to finish it tomorrow ;P

23  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Brain Burning 4k on: 2007-02-20 09:52:54
thanks for commenting!

The image is the previous version of the second game, you can download it in the webpage (http://deadchannel.blogsome.com/2007/01/27/brain-burning-4k/) I changed it because it bewildered you sometimes. if a letter which has the same color than the one before appears it's difficult for you to watch it, so my friends complained and said that it was frustating. As you said the actual version is more about reflexes.

it's very hard to get 300, but i got 284 once Smiley

PS: what is Gj? sorry, I'm spanish and I don't understand that sentence ;P
24  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: ApoFun4k on: 2007-02-19 21:18:17

27  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: BallCatcher 4k on: 2007-02-16 21:47:23
Nice game idea and beautiful game! it's quite hipnotic and adictive Wink
28  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: Who wins? on: 2007-02-16 15:01:57
Ok, thanks, I realice it when I saw other topic later asking four a fifth judge  Tongue

But, what are the criteria? The funniest? the most complex? the longest?
Each judge decides which is his favourite game I presume.

Never mind, I think that the judge work will be hard, there are a lot of good games Smiley
29  Games Center / 4K Game Competition - 2007 / Re: One more judge on: 2007-02-15 23:13:03
Ok, this topic solve my doubt: there are judges  Roll Eyes
