public void run()
    {      while(running)
                 {         //calculate
                           //draw
                           bufferStrategy.show();
                      Thread.yield();
}}

when I place dialog.show() after // draw my program don't respond anymore

4  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: java 2D : how to make faster on: 2003-02-09 12:22:25
I can't use images for my circles because the color and the radius is in function of the amount of food in an organisme

but all my circles are small. Maybe I have to draw polygones instead.
5  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / java 2D : how to make faster on: 2003-02-09 08:18:16
Hey
I'm making an ALife game and for the moment I have a terrible FPS
the methode to draw just a 50 circles on the buffer and flip the buffer takes 110 millis ! (with antialliasing)

1) Is this normal ?
2) to draw cicles is the ellips geom the one I have to use ?
3) any suggestions where I can make improvements
   (writing own circle draw methodes for ex.)

6  Game Development / Performance Tuning / Timer / Thread / animation question on: 2003-02-08 10:01:47
I'm making an ALife game.

In de constructor of my mainframe class I make 2 Timers.
One timertask call calcNewPositions()
the other call putOnScreen()

and I have also a key listener : if you press a button the program will stop.

My problem is that when my clacNewPositions() methode has to do much work (many animals alive) I can't stop the program anymore and I have to restart my computer.

Is their a simple way so my KeyListener methodes always works. thanks Huh
