Also scene2d actually uses less than one line to resize elements:

table.add(button).fill();

But you can also set align, borders, manually set w/h, etc too. I think it's just the way of thought that's different, instead of thinking about each button and where it goes you think about the table as a whole.

Personally I've never had any problems with it, obviously you are always going to sacrifice simplicity for power. A menu with two buttons is pretty trivial:

About the same amount of code as you have, except you don't have to manually resize each element.

I tend to stray away from programs like this. From personal experience, any sort of shifting or bright colors will strain the eye. The solution to eye strain from computer use shouldn't be to change the colors but rather to dim the screen or just cut down on time.

Anyways, I think putting any sort of color filter over the screen makes it harder to view, and thus makes your eyes strain more. I mean, you're not supposed to look directly at the sun and it's hard to see things at night.

Uh, that's the desktop launcher. Try the create() method of the class that extends Game or implements ApplicationListener.

Gdx.files.internal refers to the assets folder, of course putting assets in the path throws an exception. There's no src folder involved, unless you somehow changes what internal refers to.

Box2D is perfect for modular building systems like this, if it's 3d then you can use jbullet or something. Something like space engineers or kerbal space program would be nearly impossible without a physics engine.

Nothing wrong with the code, can you show your eclipse project structure with assets? Remember to refresh the eclipse project. Is the data folder in the assets folder of the android project?

Thats genius! I would have a base block that you could create. And if you click on it, any other block you place would be added to an array. That array would be the ship. Then, when you hit the arrow keys to move the ship it would cycle through the array and move each individual part of the ship. IDK if this is what you had in mind but your post helped a bunch. Tongue
If you are using any physics library, this shouldn't be necessary - each block is connected, so moving one moves the others.

Definitely use the exe/platform specifics if you're looking for maximum exposure. A lot of people won't know what a jar file is, so they won't know to click on it. Obviously for small projects this doesn't make much of a difference, though.

I use a base screen class that implements Screen, and then I have my other screens extend that base class. As a result I have the libgdx Screen functionality but can also put my own stuff into the base screen class.

Why is minecraft code bad now?

@OP I think you'll get further learning from specific tutorials rather than full games. Obviously full games are a lot of source code, and it'll take longer to understand that than if you have a tutorial of some sort. Also, game and app structure are really dependent on the game sometimes, so the same structure for your game may not be optimal. I'm not saying not to look at these game source codes, but don't rely on it as your main learning source.
