Neat idea, but needs more stuff.  Right now it seems like just a demo, not a real game.  And what's with the 'Golden Game Engine' screen?  Can't you disable that crap? Tongue

Cool stuff.  Kindof like an arcade version of Cannon Fodder Tongue Maybe you should add an option to skip to the later levels instantly.  Also give the player some of the other weapons at the start just to play around with.  And make it so you press Enter to start, Esc to restart.
3  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Space Dudes (Java 1.1 compat) on: 2005-10-06 10:59:56
Did you try it on skill Insane?  It gets hot pretty quickly that way.  I'll see about adding some sort of extra speed option.  The sleep() delay is 35 right now .. maybe you'd like it better at 20 Tongue

Edit: Ok, I added a speed option.  Just click to change it.  Really Fast is pretty crazy .. you might need a higher end PC to run it at this level.  My code is not that great Wink

anarchotron : I wouldn't be able to lock the mouse to the window with 1.1 API only.  Plus, programs that do that are annoying. Tongue Try playing in doublesize mode, you'll have less chance of overshooting.  You should try to use smooth controlled movements. Wink
I added numpad firing.

g666 : I added a new control option like you asked, just click on it to change it.

I remember playing this as a kid .. I didn't really get it then, but I can understand it now.  It looks good, and plays like the original .. it's still really hard.  Only got one life, ouch.  And messing up transfer mode means instant death.  I wonder how much practice it takes before you can actually beat it .. Shocked Anyway, good job.
6  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Galaxians (aka Starbugs) on: 2005-09-12 17:12:14
I tried running it and got an error .. I'm running Win2k and JRE 1.5.0_04

An error occurred while launching/running the application.

Category: Launch File Error

No JRE version found in launch file for this system
7  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Cyberion - 2D Shooter Game! on: 2005-09-12 16:57:38
It seems like an average Java shooter to me.  It's playable and a little fun.  I agree that the levels are a bit too long .. they seem to go on forever.  And you should add some sort of music.  For others it was hard, but for me .. it was really easy.  Try to add some sort of scrolling background, and add difficulty modes.  The hardest skill should have the enemies throwing shots around like confetti Tongue
8  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Ship Shooter - Java Space Shooter Game on: 2005-09-12 16:44:53
This feels like it's half-finished .. add sounds, some background graphics, make the ships look better, and add some variety to the enemies.  I think it could be a good game if you worked on it a bit more.
9  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Diamond Dig - Update to classic arcade style vertical scroller on: 2005-09-12 16:41:44
That was surprisingly fun.  I got to level 8 before my sleep-deprived brain couldn't keep up any longer Tongue Some improvments : Make it so going sideways clears the dirt as well .. have some more varied dirt patterns so it doesn't all look the same.  And if the player loses a life, have the digger blow up and pause for a bit, so the player has a chance to recover.  Good game!
10  Games Center / Showcase / Re: Meteor Threat - 3D Applet Game (java 1.1 compatible) on: 2005-09-12 16:27:58
It's a neat game .. although I'd like to see the planet blow up at the end.  Yes I'm a mean bastard Tongue The software 3d looks great, too.

::looks at highscores:: wow, some people must've been really bored at work Wink

My rig : Win2k, Athlon XP 2500+, JRE 1.5.0_04, Radeon 9700 Pro.
11  Games Center / Archived Projects / Space Dudes (Java 1.1 compat) on: 2005-09-12 16:21:20
Here's a game I've been working on and off for awhile now.  It's an all-directional shooter, you move the mouse where you want the ship to go, and fire with the arrow keys.  It's compiled with -target 1.1, so it should work with just about anything.  I'm working on a new version that will have lots of improvements and new stuff.  In the meantime, check it out and tell me what you guys think.  Smiley
