Try this MP3 Player <a href="">demo</a>.  If it works, then download the source code and compile parts of it until you get the sound working.

12  Discussions / General Discussions / Bob's Game on: 2009-01-05 01:45:18
So Bob wants to write a game.  He spends the next 15,000 hours writing the story, placing the pixels, composing the music, and developing the C code.  Now Nintendo won't send him the devkit to officially publish his game to the DS.

What does Bob do?  He stages a one-hundred day webcam sit-in in which he does nothing but port his game to Android, iPhone, and OpenPandora platforms:

"I grew up with a Game Boy, a childhood spent buried in a magical box with ugly green graphics.  At last, I am this wizard- this sorcery is mine now."

Hey, I spotted Ultratron on G4 during an episode of Cinematech.  It was only for a few seconds, but it was neat to see an indie java game on tv.

19  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: GDC 2005 Java Game Demo Reel! on: 2005-03-06 19:55:45
In all fairness - Chrome does contains a significant amount of java code.  The "code.pak" is actually a jar file with five megs of (uncompressed) classes consisting of world model objects, behaviors, and some low-level code.

22  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: newbie question : Ray Tracer on: 2003-11-21 15:40:29
Yeah, OpenGL relies more on "rasterization" methods than on ray casting methods..

Try these links:

23  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: Directions, LWJGL, JOGL, Signal and Noise on: 2003-06-28 09:12:27
As I understand it, Microsoft is moving towards a more free form 3D-accelerated graphical interface.  I think Java clients will need to support this to some degree to remain relevant on Windows, and I think Java3D would provide a great basis.  You could have your rich animated interfaces described via XML, then generate the scene graph from this; so the learning curve wouldn't be too steep for your average Swing programmers.
