3  Game Development / Newbie & Debugging Questions / LWJGL hide mouse when over the window on: 2010-04-27 03:57:35
I want to hide the mouse when it's over the window, but show it again when it's out of the window.

Right now I can only hide it using setGrabbed, but then the mouse will be always inside the window, and the else won't run.

I made some tests with servlets and object serialization... I tought would be easy cause I've made some serialization stuff before... but writing Objects from applet to servlet is a pain in the ass... you get all kind of random stuff, CorruptedStreamException, NullPointer, EOFException... I could make a simple echo test... but when I tried to make some handler thread to receive messages the pain began...
this is more like a hobby to me, so I think I'm putting it down "for now"  Lips Sealed

whats the best way to connect the applet running on user browser to a server on internet?
6  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / What should one use to make a game like this? on: 2006-12-24 14:37:11

- Multiplayer board game, turn based, with some basic graphics ( Applet/Java2d ?)
- little chat built in ( yahoo-game-rooms like ? )
- run on browser / web server ( servlet? )
- mouse clicks actions should be seen by others players in good time ( UDP? )
- transmit serialized objects if possible ( http/sockets?? )

as you can see on parenthesis, I'm very confused...  Undecided

I would appreciate your opinions, thanks in advance...
7  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Conquer - LWJGL Turnbased Strategy on: 2006-08-31 14:47:37
It runs very very slow here...

Ubuntu 6.06
java 1.5.0_08
Nvidia driver working (runs Enemy Territory smooth)
Geforce Fx5500, atlon 2500, 512MB

seems like it's running without hardware acceleration, mouse moves like 0.5 FPS, couldnt get out of first window....
i had to kill the process...
Do I need some library?
8  Games Center / Archived Projects / Re: Ship Shooter - Java Space Shooter Game on: 2005-09-02 19:50:50
It's a nice start!
1. Sound: I'm almost hearing the sounds, my ears are fooling me.../
2. Movement of ships: I would try to change the way the ships move. Make them spin in every direction, and randomly change the speeds of each one. Make them stop a little, aim the enemie and go for it, the turn around... it's a lot of change but may be very cool... Wink
