1  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: The Facebook thread on: 2007-12-31 21:43:00
I've recently started creating applications for the Facebook platform.  If any of you would be interested in sharing your games on Facebook let me know.  I already host a few of my own facebook apps and I think with all of the talented folks here I could put together a really kick butt arcade application for facebook.  Basically I would just need applet based games to include in the arcade.  The applets need to be 600 pixel wide or less to fit well in the facebook platform.

We would need to work out an agreement on how you would get paid.  The basic plan is advertising revenue, which I have already started using in my own apps.  If any of you are interested please let me know.  You can send me email at "scott_shaver2000 at yahoo dot com".
For those of you that have commercial web sites we could include links to those sites as well.

I guess I'm missing something because it does do anything when I choose my connection speed.

after opening it again and selecting my connection speed I get a javascript error

Line: 92
Char: 9
Error: Permission denied
Code: 0

that url isn't exact, I'm too lazy to type in all of those letters and numbers

Trying to mark everthing as read I get:

Session verification failed. Please try logging out and back in again, and then try again.

did that and it still gives the same error.

IT's nice to be on good terms with the guys that control the firewall. I'll be able to connect in 10 minutes or so. Smiley
9  Discussions / General Discussions / Re: Wurm Online has gone GOLD! on: 2006-06-07 16:58:08
Thank goodness I have a huge pipe at work, the install went pretty quick. Nicely put together by the way. However I did get the following error when connecting:

You got disconnected from the server for some reason.

Likely reasons include networks problems, the server going down for an update, and someone tripping over the cable.
Usually reconnecting in a few minutes will solve the problem, but if it doesn't, post the console log below on the wurm online forums, and someone might be able to help you.

16  Discussions / General Discussions / XBox 360 Games on: 2006-03-28 18:53:43
Okay I finally broke down and bought an XBox 360 ( ). I was waiting for the PS3 but it looks like it may never get here.

Anyway, I was wondering what games you all like and why so I know what to go get. I'm enjoying Perfect Dark Zero so far. I also have Project Gatham Racing which seems okay.

On my list to get:

Call Of Duty 2
Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion
Burnout Revenge (maybe)

I have recently purchased this book and it hasn't left my side for several days. I highly recommend it.
18  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: Porting Quake III to Java3D on: 2006-01-06 16:14:15
And now, is it a good thing for the community ? I don't think so..

Actually it is a good thing. The various methods have shown what method is most efficient. If there had only been one libary there would have been no way to find this out. Competition is a good thing, always.

Hopefully it will run well on most machines. Press Escape to exit.
20  Game Development / Networking & Multiplayer / Re: Java API for MSN, AIM, ICQ, Yahoo on: 2005-12-16 21:07:55
I know this isn't an answer to your question but, I would find it extreemly annoying to get spam in my IM client. I get enough in my email, even with filtering. If you are talking about notifing users about updates you might consider putting some code in the actual game that checks for updates and let's the user know it's available when they start your game.
21  Java Game APIs & Engines / Xith3D Forums / Re: Porting Quake III to Java3D on: 2005-12-15 19:04:24
Just curious, what is the difference in the memory footprint between the two?

Yeah, this will be very similar to playing on paper.
23  Game Development / Game Play & Game Design / Re: RPG Suggestions on: 2005-12-14 19:25:24
I've made some progress, little at a time. Reworked the menus to be graphical instead of ordinary buttons. Have the main play area functioning and partial integrated with LUA. Again this isn't java but thought I would show that progress is being made. Smiley
24  Java Game APIs & Engines / Java 2D / Re: Dynamic images & servlet config. on: 2005-12-06 21:58:54
We use headless boxes with WebLogic producing dymnamic images I think our display setting is:

export DISPLAY=:0.0
or maybe
export DISPLAY=localhost:0.0

I think the machines have Xvfb installed which can be found at

here is some other random info:

28  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Re: Flip the coordinate system? on: 2005-10-14 16:53:51
Yeah I thought about that but I'm using a 2d library on top of OGL. So I don't have access to the quad. I thought I might be able to just do something with the view or projection matrixes. hmm, thanks.
29  Java Game APIs & Engines / JOGL Development / Flip the coordinate system? on: 2005-10-14 16:25:12
How do you go about flipping the coordinate system in OGL. Let's say I want to draw an image at the top of the screen and then flip the coordinates and draw with the exact same command again but this time the image is upside down and at the bottom of the screen. Basically a simple way to draw a mirror image.
